Paul McCobb was a pivotal figure in mid-century modern design. His 1950s “Planner Group” line secured his name as one of the most iconic furniture designers of the era. McCobb wanted to create a line of furniture that looked American rather than copying European styles. He emphasized clean lines, simplicity, and a somewhat industrial design. One thing that set the Planner Group apart was the modular designs that allowed for versatile styling. The simple, streamlined pieces were characterized by their functionality and purpose and strived to make modernism accessible to the growing middle class.
This pair of 1950s twin headboards is full of charm. Each of the two identical headboards has the same simple design with an overall rectangular shape. The piece is visually broken up by brass slats near the top. A charming set of headboards sure to add mid-century modern style to any space.
