KATE MARTIN

Kate Martin is managing partner of the Perfect Thing, Inc, working in all facets of the business. After swearing never to go into an estate career, she is now thrilled about the change of heart.  Beginning as an associate at the shop, Kate has now earned an accreditation in Appraisal Services, spear points the shop and staff and splits time with Judith heading the estate sales division.

With the philosophy that things simply aren’t made the way they used to be, Kate loves letting potential clients learn that just because it’s old doesn’t mean its bad.  She delights in seeing potentially valuable items that clients find in their garages, attics and at yard sales.  Kate asserts, “People of my generation don’t understand how painstakingly things were produced before the technological age.  We used to actually make things with our hands and the progression of materials they did use can tell the story of our existence!”

In 2011, she earned her accreditation with the International Society of Appraisers, specializing in Generalist Studies.  She is working towards her CAPP certification.  She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Wheaton Association.
