Livio Seguso Murano glass egg on pedestal. Signature incised on the bottom. Livio Seguso was born in Murano, Italy and still works there to this day. He has mastered the art of glassmaking and emphasizes absolute forms that do not represent any existing thing, rather choosing to create dreamlike, never before seen experiences. This particular piece has an egg-like form on a cylindrical base. The base is frosted, and cut on a bias that gives the entire piece a weightless, tilted feel. The egg is angled similarly. The egg is also full of details that include bands of dark and clear glass. The center notably is filled with many light-catching bubbles. A touch of blue can be seen from a certain angle, but otherwise the piece has a black and white, space age appearance. This gorgeous piece is sure to draw eyes with its unique, out-of-this-world look.
