Original pastel on canvas by Jules Cheret. Framed in a horizontal oval frame encased in glass, signed at an angle on right side of woman's face. Image features a blue background with a single woman facing viewer in a bonnet with flowers.
Born in 1836, Cheret, was accredited the name "Father of the Advertising Poster". Realized especially in the 19th century for his production of poster art in France during the Art Nouveau period. Beginning as an apprentice in Lithography, he went on to become a key in French Art.
