Jean Drury (1942-2023) was a mixed media artist from DuPage County. She practiced a variety of styles from impressionist to surrealist, with an admiration for marine life in particular. Jean created a diverse set of art with varying styles and subjects over her career and was an active member of the DuPage Art League.

The Piece features vibrant, contrasting colors in larger and cleaner shapes than Drury's usual work. The work focuses on arcs and circles more than the natural, organic shapes found in other pieces by the artist.
