Herend Rothschild soup tureen with bird and flower. This beautiful tureen features a hand-painted bird motif surrounded by varying colorful insect details. It is oval in shape with a gilt, scalloped outer rim. The lid has a bird-shaped handle, and the bowl has round, stem-like handles. The pattern was originally inspired by the Rothschild family of Europe after Baroness Rothschild lost her pearl necklace in a Vienna garden. Days later, the gardener found birds playing with the precious necklace in a tree. This iconic set was lovingly used by the Rothschild family and later named after them. The birds symbolize love and relationships, representing a male and female pair. This beautiful pattern was even used by Princess Diana at her wedding reception. This gorgeous piece is perfect to bring an elegant, whimsical touch to a dining experience.
