In this confident image, which reveals Rembrandt's admiration for the portraits of Titian, he depicts himself richly dressed in the height of fashion, in lace and fur and wearing a velvet cap. Dating from the artist's early thirties, this is one of the most appealing of the many self-portraits he made throughout his life.

Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art.
