Gregory Amenoff is a contemporary American abstract painter who employs both biomorphic forms in rich hues and thick textures. Exploring the formal language of American Modernism, Amenoff creates chimerical and illusive works. “Paintings are alternate worlds—worlds unto themselves, manifested by each artist to satisfy a desire to fill a void,” he has said. Amenoff's career has been framed by extensive academic leadership and awards, including co-founding the CUE Art Foundation, teaching at Columbia University since 1994, and a 2011 Guggenheim Fellowship.
